“Manuel Álvarez Bravo. Los años decisivos”
“Manuel Álvarez Bravo, The Decisive Years” was an exhibition organized in 1992 by photography critic José Antonio Rodríguez (1961–2021) for the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City. It has inspired the exhibition we present here, marking the 120th anniversary of Don Manuel’s birth.
These 62 works seek to synthesize Álvarez Bravo’s creative output during the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s—years that coincide with the period known as the Mexican Cultural Renaissance, whose unprecedented effervescence attracted visitors and creators from other horizons.
The exhibition “Manuel Álvarez Bravo. The Decisive Years” was presented at the Manuel Álvarez Bravo Photographic Center from November 19, 2022, to January 20, 2023.
